Hi, I'm Sarah - Founder, Executive Editor

Hi, I'm Eli - Associate Editor

Welcome to A3W Editorial.

Request a Sample Edit

Are you ready to book? Or maybe you're not sure which edit your manuscript needs. Want to see how we work before booking a full project? You’re in the right place.

A sample edit is the perfect low-stakes way to:

  • get a feel for our editing styles
  • understand what level of editing your manuscript needs
  • see what developmental, line, and copy edits actually look like on the page
  • get clarity before investing in a full edit

For new clients, we require a sample edit before booking. This ensures both parties agree that it's a good fit, and we can discuss timing, payment, and details before an agreement is made.

Not sure where to start?

If you’re unsure what kind of editing your manuscript needs—or whether you’re ready for professional edits yet—that’s completely normal.

If you’d prefer to ask a quick question before booking a consultation, you’re welcome to reach out by email. We're happy to help clarify the difference between developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading so you can make an informed decision about next steps.

Or, if you are ready to book with us but don't want to, or can't, book a consul

What does A3W mean?

What does A3W mean?

The name comes from a fortune cookie Sarah received in 2012 that read: “You have a charming way with words and should write a book.”

That small sentence stuck. Not because it was prophetic—but because it named something she already knew to be true: words matter, and she wanted to understand how they worked. She's been reading, writing, editing, and thinking about craft ever since.

About A3W Editorial

A3W Editorial grew out of our own experiences as a writers navigating revision, feedback, and the often-confusing world of editing. We know firsthand how frustrating it can be to receive notes without clarity—or to invest time and money fixing the wrong things.

That’s why our work as editors is grounded in process, intention, and clarity.

We specialize in helping writers understand what their manuscript needs and when—whether that’s developmental guidance, structural feedback, or sentence-level refinement. Our approach prioritizes strong foundations before polish, so revision feels purposeful instead of overwhelming.

Who We work with

We work with a wide range of clients, including:

  • Fiction writers at various stages of revision
  • Self-publishing authors
  • Writers preparing to query or submit work
  • Professionals and creatives who value clear, thoughtful feedback

While we're based in the Kansas City area, we work with clients worldwide through virtual services.

The goal

Good editing doesn’t erase your voice. It helps it come through more clearly. A3W Editorial exists to help writers revise with confidence—by fixing the right thing first.
